I think I can safely say that everyone I know has (or has had) a Facebook account. This free to sign up, social giant of a website has hooked the young, old, and everyone in between. While it’s a little strange to see status updates about my grandma’s blackberry bush or my 7-year-old cousin’s little league game, this type of generational span is one of the reasons Facebook is such a great social tool. Since seemingly everyone is on Facebook, how do you stand out from the crowd as a business owner or someone with a fan page? By taking advantage of Facebook’s versions of HTML and Javascript to create engaging and well designed pages. Here are a few examples of successful Facebook fan pages:
The driving force behind Threadless’ t-shirt business is the you design and choose aspect of their company. So, it makes sense that their Facebook landing page would include new designs and the opportunity to rate submissions.
Red Bull’s landing page is a little less interactive, and a little more to the point. This page (as is most of their other page tabs) has fun graphic elements and is updated regularly.
While this isn’t their landing page, this clean and well laid out page allows fans to view drink recipes and shop for their favorite flavor.
Out of the pages I’ve seen so far, this may be one of my favorites. This kid-friendly company and fan page is fun and nicely organized with video, twitter updates and other clickables.
Thank you, Smashing Magazine.
