Making our clients happy is our number one priority, but when we are designing websites or emails, proofing can become an arduous task that ends up taking more time than the actual designing. Back and forth emails turn into phone calls that turn into emails again with attachment after attachment trying to explain what the client wants. When the client doesn’t have an editor on their computer, the next best thing would have to be printing the proof, physically writing on it, and then either faxing or scanning/emailing it back. Too much work for our lovely clients!
So since we like to play around with technology that can make our lives easier, we decided it was time for an online proofing system. After a little shopping around and watching plenty of tutorial videos, we went with ProofHQ, a UK-based company that offers white-labeling client or internal proofing. I’ll leave the schpeel for the website, but so far we are pretttty, pretty happy. Our clients are having a blast using the Comment tools (you can draw on it!), and it creates a ‘paper-trail’ that both the client and your employees can see.
One word of advice, though: if you’re sending a multi-page proof like a full website, don’t upload each page individually (you and your client will get sent an email for each proof, and it can become confusing if you upload a new version to one page, but not another). Instead, create a PDF Binder first, and upload that bad-boy so you can flip through the pages. Easy as pie..and we all love pie.
